FreedomHill’s two oldest students have been less visible lately. Some of the younger children have asked, “Where did they go?” Their lack of presence has not gone un-noticed!
Over the past couple of years, these two FreedomHill students have been active leaders in our community and their presence is definitely missed. One of them is actually still with us but her time is divided between college courses at Frederick Community College and working at our local Health Club. Erin is staying with us through next year so she can complete her thesis and receive her high school diploma. Our other student is an avid dancer and after several years with FreedomHill she gained the confidence and determination to set off on a new path. Sydney recently was accepted in a Dance Conservatory in CT where she is among the youngest students in their full-time boarding program. We are all very enthusiastic and proud to see both students expand their horizons with such grace and assurance. Two of the younger boys have found themselves stepping up to the plate in handling many of the responsibilities. Next year we have a few new older students coming in and that will provide additional leadership to the community, especially to the younger children. The picture attached is of our two students that have sprouted their wings. We miss their music!!!!!!!!!

I would have never taken up dancing if it were not for my many years at FreedomHill. I reached the point after a lot of time there to realize what I wanted to do with my days and how to spend them….let me tell you IT TAKES TIME! I have come to the point and determination that this is what I want to do and am extremely happy with my choice. After not doing traditional schooling and academics for almost three years I had no interest to go into a place with strict academic programs. I want to be a dancer and have so much determination that I will push through some tough times to get there(including academics). I made my decision to come here for the dancing and I know as a fact to get through the dance world or anyplace I choose to go in my life, academics are necessary. I am now jumping into 9th grade online courses here at my new school and I am flying through them without a problem. Let me repeat….If you want it…you can get it. I can’t say I am enjoying them all but I know its what needs to be done.

Well, I am impressed and inspired by both Syd and Erin. So much so that I am saving my pennies to start a Nutritional Therapist distance learning program. Both of these young women demonstrate that there is no arbitrary age limit (young or old) preventing an individual from setting goals and pursuing them. Thank you, ladies, for setting such a fine example for all of us.
